Tom Huddlestoneturned out for England at various youth levels before he was called into the senior team. The ex-Derby County and Tottenham Hotspur footballer had played for the u-16, u-17, u-19, u-20 and u-21 England teams before playing for the Three Lions of England.

Italian tactician Fabio Capello gave Tom Huddlestone his first cap for the Three Lions. He was initially called to the England senior national team camp for the first time in May 2008 ahead of the international friendly games with the United States of America and Trinidad & Tobago.

Tom Huddlestone played his first game under Capello against Brazil in November 2009. He came on as a substitute in the second half. Huddlestone played nine minutes as England were beaten 1-0 by the Selecao in their international friendly clash.

His next game was the warm-up match against Mexico ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa. Huddlestone was introduced as a substitute shortly after the hour mark.Tom Huddlestone started his first England game in the 2-1 win over Asian football giants Japan. The game against the Japanese was also a warm-up game ahead of South Africa 2010.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was part of the 30-man preliminary squad named by Capello for the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament. He was left out when the England manager reduced the preliminary squad to the required 23-man list. He returned to the national team fold two years under Roy Hodgson.

Current Crystal Palace boss Hodgson extended an invitation to Huddlestone ahead of friendly match with Sweden on November 14, 2012. In total, Huddlestone played four times for his country in addition to the fact that he didn’t feature in any major tournament for the Three Lions of England.
